Sharks are generally known to be killers. They have teeth specially adapted to do their job. Their teeth grow in rows, and each row gradually moves forward as the front rows of teeth wear out. Sharks have a keen sense of sight and smell- they can even smell small quantities of blood! They quickly pick up vibrations made by other animals and this helps them to find and catch their prey with ease. Many are the stories of sharks attacking shipwrecked sailors. The deadly Great White Shark can chop off an arm with just one bite! But not all sharks are dangerous. The Whale Shark which is the world’s largest fish, is gentle enough and feeds on plankton.
