Who was Poseidon?

Poseidon was the sea God of the Greeks (the Romans identified him with Neptune). He was carried undersea in a chariot pulled by dolphins. The ancient Greeks made many offerings to Poseidon, hoping he would protect them when they sailed the oceans.
