Natural pearls, which grow inside the shells of oysters, mussels and clams, are very rare and valuable. Some people risk their lives diving for pearls. The largest pearl ever found was from the Philippines in 1936. It weighted 6.86 kg. It is now known as the Pearl of Lao-tze.
