What are carnivores ?

Carnivores are animals that feed on other animals. Their teeth, jaws and mouthparts are designed for catching, killing and eating their prey. The front teeth or incisors are used to grip the prey, and also tear off pieces of meat. The canine teeth stop the prey from escaping, and help to kill it. Meat is cut up by large teeth that move like scissors, and the rear molars crush the food.

Though it may sound strange, the digestive system of carnivores is shorter than that of herbivores because meat is easier to digest than plant materials!
