What were the forts on the Saxon Shore?

The forts of the Saxon Shore were a series of forts built along the Southeast coast of what is now England, during the latter years of the Roman occupation in Britain. They were built to guard the southern coast from invaders. However, once the Romans left, Britain, the forts could not keep the Saxons and other invaders from Denmark and Northern Germany, out of Britain.
